International Union of Journalists and Writers: A Global Voice for Press Freedom and Rights Protection

The International Union of Journalists and Writers (IUJW) is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization, currently headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, the capital of the European Union. The Union was officially founded in 2014 in Ukraine and later registered as an international non-governmental organization in Belgium under the number: 1027.123.996, combining its Ukrainian founding roots with international legal recognition in Belgium.

The Union was established and is currently led by Dr. Saleh Muhamed Daher, who guides it in achieving its global objectives of defending press freedom and human rights. Since its inception, the Union has worked to protect the rights of journalists and writers worldwide, promote freedom of expression, and uphold the values of free and fair journalism as a cornerstone of human rights and justice.


Union Objectives

  • Promoting Media Freedom: Ensuring journalists’ right to practice their work freely and safely, and securing the public’s right to access accurate and transparent information.

  • Professional Development: Providing training courses and workshops for journalists and writers to enhance their professional skills.

  • International Cooperation: Partnering with global media organizations to strengthen journalistic rights.

  • Supporting Journalists’ Rights: Providing legal protection and practical support for journalists worldwide.

The Union represents over 9,000 journalists and writers worldwide, offering its members:

The IUJW headquarters is located in Brussels, Belgium, the capital of the EU and a center for international decision-making. The Union also maintains regional offices in Vienna, Austria, and Odessa, Ukraine, providing a wide network for communication with partners and institutions at both European and international levels.
