The International Union of Journalists and Writers is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit international organization headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, the capital of the European Union. The Union was initially founded in 2014 in Ukraine and was later registered as an international non-governmental organization in Belgium under the legal number 1027.123.496, thus combining its foundational roots in Ukraine with its international legal recognition in Belgium.

The Union was founded and is currently headed by Dr. Saleh Muhamed Daher, who leads it with a clear vision towards strengthening its global mission of defending press freedom and human rights. Since its establishment, the Union has worked to protect the rights of journalists and writers around the world, uphold freedom of expression, and reinforce the principles of free and ethical journalism as a fundamental pillar of justice and human rights.
