Blair and Bush are criminals

Ukraine, Odessa, July 11, 2016. The international organization “Shield” during several years, calls on to bring to justice all perpetrators of unlawful wars, including in Iraq and in chaos that was born in this war. The world has lost confidence in the justice, because of inhuman crimes that are concealed and the perpetrators continue to live in peace.

Since 2003, the military forces of the United Kingdom and the United States have invaded and occupied the sovereign state – Iraq. This invasion was based on the Resolution 1441 of the UN Security Council, adopted on 8 November 2002, as well as the resolution number 678 of 20 November 1990; one of the main points was the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Another reason for the invasion was the existence of links with the terrorist group “Al Qaeda” and the transfer of specified weapons. These assumptions have been made categorically without any supported facts. However, common unlawful acts against Iraq began after the attacks in September 11, it means 2 years before  the invasion. Together, they developed a “smart strategy” that illegally and unreasonably have changed the lives of the Iraqi people forever. The Chairman of the investigation, concerning the United Kingdom’s participation in the military campaign in Iraq, the former chief diplomat Sir John Chilcot on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, issued a long-awaited report. A key conclusion of this report is formulated very softly: mistake. It was not a crime, but a simple mistake. The administrative issue not a crime.

Is it possible to name the death of more than half a million Iraqi civilians as mistake?  Around 60 per cent of deaths were caused by violent causes. The rest died under the influence of the indirect causes of the war: the destruction of the state or city infrastructure, the inability to get to the hospitals and the medical facilities congestion. The half a million of children were killed. 7 million of Iraq people left their houses; it is without mentioning the internally displaced people. About one million women became widows. More than half a million of children are orphans; great number of families lost their connection with each other. About 3.6 million children have no access to education. In fact, Iraq is completely destroyed and it is unknown whether it will be restored. The infrastructure of the country is completely destroyed. Because of the military actions the centuries-old history of Iraq is ruthlessly disappeared forever – monuments are broken; some of them was more than 3 thousand years old. Illegally and without the reasons a great number of civilians were sent into the prisons. In these prisons,  they were brutally abused and tortured (for example – the Abu Ghraib prison), they were deprived of human dignity. The biggest part of population live below the poverty line. And it is not a complete list of human rights violations in Iraq and no one is responsible for it. The international community draws no attention to the chaos that has become one of the consequences of this war.

Explosions, acts of terrorism and murders, looting are taking place in Iraq almost daily. The international organization “Shield” requires from the international community without any delay to prosecute the war criminals. Blair and Bush are war criminals with the international level. But not only they are guilty in the current situation in Iraq. The UN did not prevent the illegal and unwarranted penetration of forces to Iraq, that way they had violated one of the fundamental goals of their activity – the maintenance of international peace and security. The UN resolution number 1441 is a collusion against Iraq. 33 countries, without understanding the situation, followed the offenders and became complicit of this crime. Media is an auxiliary power for inciting conflicts in the world. For the death of innocent people must answer all: who are involved directly or indirectly, all whose hands are in blood of innocent people in Iraq.

The international organization “Shield” believes that for the International Criminal Court the Chilcot’s report should become one of the documents, on the basis of which the International Criminal Court should start own investigation of the war in Iraq and to detain Bush and Blair for the crimes. The international organization “Shield” will continue to fight for the punishment of perpetrators and the reparations to the Iraqi people.
