Your Duty Now Is to Expose the Famine in Gaza and Confront Genocide and Official Complicity

In light of the escalating catastrophe in Gaza—where famine threatens millions of civilians and systematic extermination is carried out against a defenseless population—the International Union of Journalists and Writers issues an urgent appeal to all journalists, writers, influencers, and human rights organizations to shoulder their moral and professional responsibilities at this defining moment in human history.

What is happening in Gaza is no longer a conflict; it is a deliberate and methodical genocide, perpetrated by Israel with full support from the United States. The U.S. has not merely played the role of political and military ally—it has become the de facto commander of this war through a joint operations room in Tel Aviv. This U.S. role has shattered all international norms and trampled the global human rights framework. Washington is the primary sponsor of the bombs that kill children, the political shield protecting the occupying force through repeated vetoes, and the force obstructing humanitarian aid—not in the name of peace, but in the name of domination.

Equally culpable are the global arms manufacturers profiting immensely from this senseless war. These companies supply the occupying power with lethal weaponry used to exterminate civilians and drive them from their homes. Through their continued support and profiteering from innocent blood, they bear significant ethical and political responsibility for perpetuating this disaster.

The famine sweeping Gaza is not a natural disaster—it is a weapon of war, deployed to starve civilians into submission or displacement. Hundreds of children have already died from hunger. Hospitals are collapsing under the weight of the wounded and dying. Food and medical aid are being deliberately blocked, while the so-called civilized world watches in complicit silence. This famine is a calculated political decision, not a lack of resources.

Amid this horror, the global media faces a deeper crisis: the suppression of truth, the normalization of atrocities, and complicity through silence or biased narratives. This is where the duty of media professionals becomes paramount: not merely to report events, but to expose the perpetrators, hold the complicit accountable, and dismantle the false narratives that paint the killer as the victim and the victim as responsible.

The Union also warns that what is unfolding in Gaza cannot be isolated from the broader geopolitical strategy across the Arab world. In Lebanon and Syria, the United States continues to inflame sectarian, ethnic, and ideological divisions, while propping up authoritarian regimes and militias, ensuring the region remains in chaos and under control. The so-called “peace agreements” do not bring stability—they are imposed through political coercion and media manipulation. As former U.S. President Donald Trump once said: “Through strength comes peace.” But what kind of peace is built on the rubble of homes and the corpses of children?

It is time for journalists and intellectuals to shake off the false mask of neutrality. This is no longer just a political matter—it is a test of conscience and a matter of human dignity. We call for a comprehensive media mobilization—not just to report, but to counter lies, galvanize global public opinion, and pressure decision-makers to stop the genocide.

This is the time for courage. The time for truth. The time to speak out—not to appease murderers.
The International Union of Journalists and Writers will continue to stand for truth, expose injustice, and defend human dignity. For today, silence is betrayal, delay is complicity, and neutrality is a crime.

Gaza is not just a besieged city. Gaza is a moral test for the entire world.
